The Work
The only thing we know about the outside is what we hear.
And what we hear is a party.
Is the party real?
Pool Party is a site-specific multimedia performance by Niki Matzona, created as her thesis project for the Department of Audio and Visual Arts at the Ionian University. The work deals with immersion and expectations, transforming the space into an audiovisual environment that surrounds its audience.
The performance took place on June of 2026 at Tzamia Krystalla, 10 Agiou Orous, Athens. View the performance announcement.
Below is an audio sample recorded during the installation presentation.

The Installation
The multimedia installation combined three projections with quadraphonic sound. Image, sound, architecture, and the presence of the audience worked together to shape an experience that could not be separated from its site. The only performer on stage was a disco ball.
My Contribution
I provided artistic and technical mentoring and participated in the design and setup of the installation, helping translate the artistic proposal into a working spatial and technical system.
